INTRODUCTION

I'M ERICK HIGUERA

I’m based in the Baja California Peninsula, and I love bringing the ocean’s untold stories to the surface. For over twenty years, I’ve been exploring and documenting the world’s richest marine ecosystems, capturing the lives of great white sharks, orcas, mantas, whales, and other captivating pelagics. You’ve seen my work on Our Oceans, Planet Earth III and The Americas. I offer a range of professional skills, from cinematography to logistics and wildlife photography to scientific consultation. My stock footage is available for license, or visit my print gallery (coming soon) to bring a piece of the ocean into your space. My passion for ocean conservation also drives my research manta rays and orcas. Everything I do is rooted in one goal: helping people connect with and protect our oceans.

MARINE BIOLOGY

SCIENCE + RESEARCH

A marine biologist and conservationist, my work centers on understanding and protecting Mexico’s ocean giants, from manta rays and whale sharks to orcas and dolphins. I’ve led long-term studies on species behavior, migration, and habitat use, using methods like photo-identification, satellite tagging, and field observation across the Baja California Peninsula, Guadalupe Island, Revillagigedo National Park, and the Mexican Pacific. I co-founded Manta Pacífico and work closely with Pelagic Life to advance research and drive conservation through science-based storytelling. Everything I film or photograph is grounded in fieldwork. I use my research to shape compelling narratives that reveal the intelligence, complexity, and vulnerability of these marine animals, inspiring audiences to care and take action to protect the ocean.
